A transient associated with shoplifting apparently bit a Wal-Mart loss prevention officer and is presently confronting crime allegations including battery and ownership of a controlled substance, police said. Roxanne Melonzon, 24, was set to show up in court Thursday at the Fremont Hall of Justice for a hearing on the charges that originate from a May 2 assault, court records show.
Union City cops reacted about 11:30 p.m. to the business at 30600 Dyer St. to aid store security officers who reported a confrontational customer they’d found stealing from the store, Cmdr. Ben Horner said. Police discovered that after two security officers confined the lady she allegedly started fighting with them while escorted to the store’s security office.
Melonzon went so far as to bite one of the security officers in the chest throughout the scuffle,” as indicated by Horner’s report. Officers said Melonzon quieted down when police arrived at the store. A glass smoking pipe and something like four grams of methamphetamine was later found inside Melonzon’s bra, Horner said.
As of Thursday morning she was being held at the Santa Rita Jail on $42,500 bail.
